ABOUT STEVE DURONCELET

Steve Duroncelet is a talented and introspective artist, born and raised in a family of artists rich in the Creole culture of Louisiana. As a proud Louisiana Creole, he draws inspiration from his heritage, infusing his work with the vibrant colors and soulful rhythms of his upbringing. Now residing in the beautiful landscapes of Portugal, Steve has embraced a new artistic chapter, blending his roots with the serene beauty of his surroundings.

Steve studied commercial art and illustration, as well as fine art with a concentration on painting. Steve is a retired Graphic designer and is now focusing on his passion, painting.  As a fine artist he has been showing and selling artwork for 35 years. Steve's artwork is characterized by its focus on color, with each piece thoughtfully composed to evoke feelings of calm and upliftment. He believes in the transformative power of art, seeking to offer viewers a refuge through their visual experiences. His numerous solo exhibitions stand as a testament to his commitment and talent, showcasing his unique ability to convey emotion through color and form. Whether through bold, abstract compositions or serene landscapes, his work invites a moment of contemplation and peace.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Steve is deeply rooted in spirituality. His journey has led him to embrace Native American traditions, where he actively participates in ceremonies that honor the Earth and the interconnectedness of all life.

Steve's commitment to personal growth and discipline is further evident in his martial arts practice. He has trained extensively in Shotokan and Uechi Ryu karate, blending the strong, linear techniques of Shotokan with the circular, softer approach of Uechi Ryu. His practice of Tai Chi, known for its fluid movements and emphasis on internal energy, complements his martial arts training, fostering balance and mindfulness in both body and mind.  As an energy healer, Steve has reached the level of Reiki Master, a testament to his deep connection to universal energy and his ability to channel it for healing purposes. He is also a Level 3 Healing Touch practitioner, a modality that emphasizes heart-centered, energy-based healing. Through these practices, Steve helps individuals find peace, balance, and healing in their lives.
